Week 1-4: Basic Homotopy theory:
Homotopy groups, long exact sequence of fibration, Whitehead’s thm, Hurewicz thm,
cohomological operations.
Week 5-13 Characteristic Classes:
Stiefel-Whitney Classes, Grassmanian, Thom isomorphism, Obstruction, Chern Classes,
Pontrjagin classes and cobordism, curvature and characteristic classes.
Week 14-17 Low dimensional manifolds
A short introduction to the structure of 3 and 4 dimensional manifolds.
